Comedian Benny Hill is at his leering best in this collection of material shown on British television in the 1980s. This collection contains a variety of classic Hill moments, from a musical number set on a cruise ship in which Hill sings some mildly off-color lyrics to any number of incidents in which he ogles beautiful young women. A parody of the American TV show Dallas has Hill playing multiple characters, and though some of the jokes seem older than Stonehenge, they're generally set up and delivered so well that they're hilarious. One running gag in this collection has Hill playing a henpecked husband (whose wife is so ugly she's played by a man) trying to flirt with his beautiful young neighbors. Of course, he gets nowhere, but it's fun watching him try. And try. And try again. In a surreal touch a pair of video editors are seen watching the various skits on their own viewing screen, and they intrude to control the action, occasionally intervening to halt a slapstick spectacle before things get out of hand. The sketches in this collection are uneven, but it's still a very good collection for those who fondly recall the oddball humor of Benny Hill. --Robert J. McNamara
